Mike Baur, His Startup Company, and Other Activities

Having given the interesting name of Swiss Start Up Factory (SSUF) to his latest endeavor at which he is a Co-Founding Partner and Executive Chairman, Mike Baur’s main responsibility is the financing rounds and fundraising for the company.

Begun in 2014 when Baur was only 39 years old, SSUF, a Zurich-based accelerator, was driven by the ambition of the three co-founders (Mike Baur, Max Meister, and Oliver Walzer) to mainly create unique three-month programs that start twice a year in January and September of each year.

Those programs provide early-stage startups with financing, office space in the heart of Zurich, mentoring, coaching, and other services. They also offer the most important factor of access to a large investor and entrepreneurial network that gives exciting opportunities in Switzerland and throughout the globe.

The objective is to bring startups from their original idea all the way to market in a mere three months. The contact between the startups with the founders and other experts is nearly daily, which means a strong interaction, and there are also several input sessions during the acceleration process to make sure that startups have input that matches the experiences and challenges that they are facing at the particular moment..

The biggest challenge is turning passion and dream driven entrepreneurs with a workable vision into business people capable of operating a fast-growing and profitable company. Included is knowledge on how to hire a reliable well-experienced team and how to foster strong communications and loyalty between those employees and the owners.

With an MBA from the University of Rochester New York and an Executive MBA from the University of Berne, along with close to 20 years in Swiss private banking, Baur is extremely well-qualified to add his education and experience to what has already become Switzerland’s Number One independent and privately-financed early stage ICT Startup Accelerator.

Mike Baur also invests much of his time with Swiss youth entrepreneurs and supports various Swiss startups financially and as a mentor. He is also an enthusiastic Co-Founder and Director of the Swiss Startup Association.
